She Leveled Up: Brandi Barnett of AYO Scents
Favorite Quote: "Be the change you wish to see in the world"
Today we would like to introduce you to Brandi Barnett!
Please tell us more about your business.
AYO Scents is a mocktail-inspired candle and scent business meant tfor your everyday lifestyle and for the luxury girl.
Brandi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I'm an educator, Mompreneur, Boy Mom, and Veteran. While battling migraines and anxiety, I learned the power of self-care and the importance of aromatherapy.
I encourage others to join me on a journey of wellness and discover the soothing benefits of natural scents crafted for AYO Scents. With my audiences I try to share the healing properties of aromatherapy and how this directly impacts finding your inner peace.
I strive to prioritize self-care and create a harmonious balance in life.
Right now, I am motivated to succeed and incorporate the AYO Scents brand in spas, mental health businesses, and studios.
Great. Please tell us about the biggest obstacle or challenge that your business faces.
Each month, we attempt to gain consistent sales.
I can imagine that is challenging. With your level of attention and focus I'm sure sales will become more consistent sooner than later.
Alright-what is your biggest business goal in the next 5 years?
I’m focused on the quality of the candle. I am actively looking to increase the quality of the products through production. I'm focused on mainstreaming my products into local businesses.
We want to know what other entrepreneurs have said to you that has helped you during this small business journey.
What is the best advice you've been given? Why did this advice resonate with you?
Be authentic. People know when you aren’t true to yourself and your brand.
Brandi, now it is your turn. What advice would you give someone who is interested in starting their own business?
Keep failing - it builds character. Eventually, the failures are lessons for the blessings
How has being a woman equipped you for owning and operating a business?
As a woman, I am not scared of the things you have to learn and endure as I've had to do a lot of learning and enduring as a wife and mother. Failure doesn’t scare me. I’m equipped for endurance, strategy, grace, and for being a student of others.
How have you "Leveled Up"?
Within the last year, I took the initiative and created the candle and content mixer with Skyelight Studios ATL. We have a growing following. The studio owners are willing to continue working together. I hope to continue being bold when working with one customer or ten customers. I pride myself on treating each customer with integrity and appreciation.
What are you most proud of about your business? Why?
I’m still here!
