Mompreneurship: The Good, Bad and The Guilt

Updated: Mar 8, 2020

No matter how long you’ve been a mom, you are susceptible to mom guilt. It’s so important to understand that every woman out there will feel this at some point or another. It doesn’t matter whether she stays home with her kids, works outside of the home, or works from home, she is going to struggle with wondering if she is being successful.

If you’re a woman who is an entrepreneur and mom, there is a way to be successful at both of these roles simultaneously. Here are a few of the things to keep in mind:

Your Success Starts in The Mind

If you want to be and feel successful, you have to believe that you are good mom and business owner. Whenever you start feeling the doubts creep in, talk to yourself as though you were talking to your best friend. What would you tell her if she said, “I feel like I’m failing as mom and business owner”.

Define What Balance Means to You

Most of us struggle with having a balanced life, because we are trying to fit into a mold created by society. You must figure out what a balanced life looks like for you and your family. Maybe that means you work 10 hour days so you can take the following day off and focus completely on your children. Or, it could look like working a couple of hours every day and spending each evening with your kids.

Let Your Kids See You as The Successful Woman You Are

The best gift you can give your children is to show them that you are a strong, successful woman. It’s important to let them see you pursue your passions and dreams. When they get old enough, invite them along to experience as much of what you do as possible.

Being a successful mom and entrepreneur is doable and possible. You just have to believe that you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. -Ariel
